Q. Why should I consider "Character Grade®" versus #2 or Rustic Grades?
A. Most #2 and rustic grades of flooring are "what is left over" after the flooring plant pulls out the higher grades. Character Grade® is made from specially selected timber and it includes the higher grades as well. This is HomerWood's primary product line, not an accumulation or by product.
Q. Why do you get seasonal separations between planks?
A. This occurs when humidity changes from winter to summer are not controlled in the house. Typically if the separations occur, it is in winter and they will close in summer.
Q. Why should I buy Prefinished Flooring versus Unfinished Flooring?
A. Unfinished flooring installed by a professional gives the most options regarding sheen and custom colors. Prefinished flooring is convenient. There is less time involved in installation and less mess. Changes in humidity will not crack the finish between two individual planks as they can move independently.
Q. What type of care is required for my hardwood floor?
A. Unfinished hardwood floors do not require waxing. Most often just a light damp mopping will clean your floor. Some cleaners can be used infrequently to maintain the floors. For prefinished floors, use only floor cleaners with no residue or abrasives. Do not wax, polish, or buff. Occasionally clean the floor with a professional floor cleaner.
Q. What should I know about wide plank flooring?
